Swiss chalet becomes a holiday home for a Belgian art collector

Belgian collector, designer and aesthete Axel Vervoordt wanted an old traditional mountain chalet to restore and provide a quiet family retreat. No such house was found so after locating a plot of land in the mountains above Verbier, with perfect unimpaired views of the valley, he began to plan his chalet. All the materials, including the stone were salvaged, the design is typical Valaisan with a stone-built lower storey and a wood-framed structure on the upper floor.
